Alberto Sánchez joined Grupo Santander in 1997. He is currently the President and CEO of Santander Investment Securities Inc. and heads the corporate development group of Santander Consumer Finance.

Sánchez has held several different positions with Santander: Head of European Equity Research, Head of Latin American Equities, Head of Spanish Research, and obtained numerous awards by Institutional Investor, FT -Extel and Reuters among others. He was also Advisor to Latam Banking Group when he joined Grupo Santander working on the restructuring of the banks in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia.

Prior to joining Santander, Sánchez worked for Bear Stearns in New York as Managing Director and Senior Latin American Bank Analyst, where he was ranked by Institutional Investor. He worked also at Deutsche Bank in New York as Senior Latin American Bank Analyst, and Banesto as Research and Risk Analyst in Spain, Australia, and the USA.

Sánchez holds a Master in International Political Economy & Development from Fordham University, a Degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a Degree in Economics from UNED.

Sánchez is currently a board member of Santander Consumer USA (formerly Drive Financial), and board member of the Greenwich Village Orchestra, a non-profit musical organization. Sánchez was appointed to Sovereign Bancorp's Board of Directors in March of 2007.
